SUMMARY:WVNPA Regional Roundtable: Building Strong Teams - Martinsburg
DESCRIPTION:The spring regional meetings have a new look this year! \nThey are a bit shorter: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. They include some quality programming in the morning\, a networking lunch\, and roundtable discussions in the afternoon. Our goal is to provide a forum for nonprofit leaders to share their challenges in a supportive setting and find ways to collaborate with their peers. \nAs nonprofit leaders\, it is our responsibility to ensure that our teams – whether staff\, board of directors\, or volunteers – are running efficiently and are fully supporting the mission of the organization. Building strong teams is one of the best things we can do to promote organizational growth and groom current and future nonprofit leaders. \nBut have you ever felt overwhelmed by the prospect of having to manage group dynamics amidst organizational needs? We have goals to monitor\, budgets to mind\, partnerships to enhance\, and initiatives that require collaboration. Not to mention interpersonal relationships! If you have team members who have tunnel vision\, lack strategic goals common to the team\, have minimal accountability strategies in place\, suffer from poor internal communication practices\, or simply want to learn the skills needed for developing effective teams\, then this regional meeting is for you! \nAnd\, as a bonus\, plan to renew and refresh by spending the lunch hour networking with your peers. Then participate in afternoon roundtables – a lively discussion of your team’s challenges\, ways to apply principles and techniques you learned in the morning session\, or seek peer-to-peer consulting on any other issue relevant to the sector or your organization’s needs. \n—————————— \nAGENDA \n10:00 – 10:30 am             WVNPA Updates \n10:30 am – 12:00 pm      Building Strong Teams in Stressful Times with Aila Accad \nUsing the interactive model Breaking the Perfection Myth\, Aila will teach participants to groom leaders from within. She will also introduce applications for time management\, communication\, and motivation for individuals and teams. Participants will learn ways to identify unique qualities each member brings to the team\, a simple model for better team communication\, a powerful way to instantly reduce stress and feel energized\, and take away reproducible handouts to use with your team members. \n12:00 – 12:30 pm             Lunch and networking \n12:30 – 2:00 pm                Roundtable Discussions \n\nBest practices for applying team building and stress reduction techniques from the morning session to your specific nonprofit organization.\nBest team building techniques to build current and future leaders.\nShare any other organizational challenge you have with your colleagues for peer-to-peer learning\n\nAbout the Presenter: Aila Accad\, RN\, MSN\, is president & founder of LifeQuest International\, LLC. She is an innovator in wellness training and coaching. Aila creates uniquely simple\, down to earth experiences that help people get results quickly. SUMMARY:2022 Spring Regional Meeting - Huntington
DESCRIPTION:Due to unforeseen circumstances\, the WVNPA has cancelled the in-person Regional Meeting in Huntington and Charleston.  We invite you to attend the virtual option on May 12th.   \nAbout the Session: \nNonprofits are realizing that executive director transition is a crucial moment in an organization’s life: a moment of great vulnerability\, as well as great opportunity for transformative change. Planning for executive director transition is called succession planning: thinking in advance about how to set the stage for a strong transition.  \nWhile there is risk in executive transition\, there is also tremendous opportunity for reflection\, change\, and organizational growth. When well planned and considered\, leadership transitions can result in significantly stronger organizations. \nThis succession planning training is designed to give small to mid-sized nonprofit organizations a framework that can be used to prepare for a leadership transition\, search for the best candidates\, and thrive for years to come. It comes filled with practical advice and tools that will save you time\, worry and money.   \nParticipants will receive the following:  \n\na succession planning checklist and timeline; \na list of recommended reading; guiding questions for board members interviewing candidates; \ninsights directly from others who have experienced  leadership transitions; and \ntemplates and sample planning documents so you can avoid reinventing any wheels.\n\nMeeting Agenda:\n\n10:00 – 10:30: Introductions and WVNPA update (Registration begins at 9:30)\n10:30 – 12:00: Part 1 of Succession Planning\n12:00 – 12:30: Lunch\n12:30 – 2:00: Part 2 of Succession Planning\n2:00 – 2:30: Closing Remarks and Evaluations\n2:30: Adjournment\n\nAbout the Presenter:\nTricia C. Kingery\, M.A.\, M.B.A.\nPresident and Owner\nKingery & Company\, LLC\nThe Retreat WV\, LLC\nThe Cottage WV\, LLC  \n  \nAs an entrepreneur\, mother and child advocate\, Tricia Kingery cares deeply about her community and is passionate about making a positive impact in West Virginia.  Fifteen years ago\, that passion led her to establish Kingery & Company\, LLC\, a consulting firm that strengthens the mission of nonprofits through planning\, training\, marketing and fundraising.  Every day\, the Kingery team empowers people\, develops organizations\, and strengthens communities.  Combining skills and heart\, they fuel the mission of clients like United Ways\, Community Action\, Health Departments\, Associations\, and more.  With a MA in Counseling and BA in Psychology from Marshall University\, along with a MBA from West Virginia University\, education is at the heart of everything she does.    \nAs a former child and family therapist\, Tricia continues to serve as a voice for abused\, neglected and troubled children.  She is the Executive Director for West Virginia KIDS COUNT\, Statewide Coordinator for the ACEs Coalition of WV\, and Board Member of the YWCA Charleston.  She also manages the John K.
