SUMMARY:Social Networking and Social Work Management
DESCRIPTION:The use of social networking as a communication tool has become common practice for today’s society and\, while an inventive and convenient way to connect with others\, has also become a method for social work managers to scope out potential employees\, as well as spy on the activities of existing employees. \nThis presentation will discuss the use of social networking as a method to increase communication amongst staff\, as well as how it can negatively affect staff relations. Additionally\, workshop participants will learn the risks and benefits of how social networking can be used as a hiring and management tool. Through case examples\, dialogue and group discussion/work\, participants will analyze how to create boundaries with staff and clients regarding social networking\, how to identify risky situations\, and how to educate staff and clients about responsible use of social media. DESCRIPTION:Strength-Based Grant Writing is intended to help build new capacity for nonprofit organizations. This hands-on\, intensive training will help aspiring and experienced grant writers approach grant writing from a strength-based perspective. Strength-based grant writing seeks collaboration\, shared understanding\, and commitment to action by the organization and the larger community in identifying opportunities for change and new direction. At the end of this training\, participants will not only understand all the components of a grant application\, but will also have a new way of looking appreciatively at what works in their organization and community. \nMore than 350 people have attending this workshop since its inception. One participant recently wrote: \nI had the absolute pleasure of participating in your Strength Based Grant Writing Workshop this past October. I cannot express to you how extraordinary and worthwhile I found the entire process.  \nSo far\, my organization has been approved for two of the grants that I have written – there is no doubt in my mind this would not have been feasible without the tools and knowledge I gained through your workshop.” \nCome and join the growing network of nonprofit professionals approaching grant writing from this unique and energizing perspective. DESCRIPTION:The use of data visualization to illustrate findings is becoming more common within the field of evaluation; well-designed visuals are engaging\, aid in the interpretation of data\, and promote the use of evaluation findings. This webinar will focus on the effective visual representation of data using charts that can be created in Microsoft Excel 2013. The\n￼strategic use of design principles and the practical skills needed to create charts that are visually appealing\, functional\, and informative will be addressed. \nIn this webinar\, attendees will learn:\n1. Data visualization design principles\, and\n2. Techniques for creating charts in Microsoft Excel 2013 \n￼￼Presenter Bios\nDana Ansari\, B.S.\nMs. Ansari has experience in a variety of research settings. She holds dual degrees in Biology and Psychology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). She has a background in quantitative and qualitative research with a focus on maternal and child health\, smoking cessation\, substance use\, teen pregnancy prevention\, and mental health. She supports all aspects of CRC’s evaluation activities including designing evaluations; developing logic models and indicator grids; monitoring program-level data; coordinating and conducting interviews and focus groups\, developing and analyzing surveys; and report writing. \nMandolin Singleton\, B.A.\n￼￼Ms. Singleton provides evaluation assistance and research services to non-profit and public health service agencies within the Baltimore area. She has a degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Her work focuses on positive youth development and school-based programs and involves research on early childhood development and education in support of evaluation reporting. DESCRIPTION:Theatre de Jeunesse\, a local young adult theatre arts organization\, invites Mid-Ohio Valley sign language interpreters to attend a free workshop entitled “Sign Language Interpretation For The Stage”.  The workshop will be held on Saturday\, July 18\, 2015\, at 1:00 PM on the campus of Marietta College at the Friedrich Theater in the Hermann Fine Arts Center\, 500 Butler Street (corner of 4th and Butler Streets) in Marietta\, Ohio. \nThe subject matter covered will be the differences between interpretation for the stage versus other types of events\, and ASL Theatre Certification information.  Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for RID members who attend.  Workshop presenters will be Janelle St. Martin and Brianna Butler who have a combined total of over 30 years experience in interpreting for stage productions. \nThere is no charge for the workshop and light snacks will be provided.
