SUMMARY:What Nonprofits Need to Know About the Current Federal Grant Landscape
DESCRIPTION:This webinar is hosted by the National Council of Nonprofits. \nOctober 6th\, 3:00 – 4:00 PM \nRegistration Fees: FREE \nREGISTRATION\nRegister today to join the National Council of Nonprofits for a national webinar on Monday\, October 6th at 3:00 pm Eastern to learn more about what nonprofits need to know about the current federal grant landscape. \nMany nonprofits are struggling to understand how to best navigate recent changes to federal grants. New executive orders\, agency memoranda\, and grant agreements have caused confusion and concern from nonprofits that regularly partner with the federal government to provide essential services in their communities. \nRegister for a national webinar hosted by the National Council of Nonprofits on what nonprofits need to consider as they plan for future federal grants – from what to think about in the application process\, how to navigate the new grant certifications\, and how to plan for new processes. Hear from Amanda Fuchs Miller\, President of Seventh Street Strategies\, who previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Higher Education Programs\, overseeing federal grants\, and currently consults with nonprofits across the country. After Amanda’s presentation\, Kara Young Ponder\, VP of Knowledge\, Impact\, and Strategy at NCN will host a moderated Q&A and Sarah Saadian\, SVP of Policy and Campaigns at NCN will provide a policy update. \n** Please note: this webinar will not be recorded**

SUMMARY:Leading Nonprofits Through the Twists and Turns
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is being offered by The Chronicle of Philanthropy.\n\nOctober 8th\, 1:00 – 3:00 PM \nRegistration Fees: $159 \nREGISTRATION\nLeading Nonprofits Through the Twists and Turns\nMaintaining Momentum\, Leading Hard Conversations\, and Supporting Teams Through Turbulent Times \nWednesday\, October 8\n1:00 – 3:00 PM ET\n\nThe nonprofit sector today is under deep strain — the work feels more urgent than ever\, but the way forward is anything but simple. Nonprofit leaders are expected to stay calm\, communicate clearly\, and keep things moving … even when they’re not sure what’s coming next. Some days\, the strain shows up loud — pushback on a decision\, clashing priorities\, a tense conversation you didn’t see coming. Other days\, it’s quieter: a team stretched thin\, a community on edge\, a funder or partner asking for certainty you can’t honestly give. \nThis workshop offers a chance to step out of survival mode and rethink what leadership looks like in moments like this. We’ll explore why even well-intended efforts to create change can backfire\, how everyday tension can slide into unproductive conflict\, and how to lead others more intentionally when complexity becomes the norm. You’ll leave with practical tools\, fresh perspective\, and a bit more space to breathe. \nIn this workshop\, you’ll learn: \n\nUnderstand the distinction between healthy conflict (which drives growth) and high conflict (which derails progress)\nExplore the Conflict Foresight Model to anticipate others’ reactions before tensions escalate\nIdentify the common “elephants in the room” that prevent genuine buy-in\, even when everyone verbally agrees\nGain tools to develop responses that address both logical objections and emotional reactions to change\nEngage in creative reflection exercises that unlock new perspectives on persistent challenges\n\nRegistrants: Please bring a notebook\, something to doodle with\, and three pieces of 8.5 x 11 paper to the session. \nAbout the Speaker\nMelanie Ho\, Ph.D.\, Founder\, Strategic Imagination \nMelanie Ho is a consultant who combines more than 20 years of leadership experience with her perspective as an artist and multimedia storyteller to help organizations achieve bold transformations. She delivers unique workshops and keynotes for leaders at Fortune 500 organizations\, start-ups\, universities\, nonprofits\, and government groups\, focusing on today’s most important leadership concepts — and bringing them to life through art and storytelling. Previously\, she served as SVP of Research at EAB Global\, a technology and services firm in Washington\, DC (formerly part of The Advisory Board Company)\, where she managed a team of 100 consultants that provided strategic and operational advice to more than 1\,500 colleges and universities worldwide. \nHer recent book\, Beyond Leaning In: Gender Equity and What Organizations are Up Against\, received a silver medal in the 2022 Axiom Awards recognizing the world’s best business books. Also a visual artist\, Melanie has drawn dozens of comics about the challenges that women face at work. She received her Ph.D. in English from UCLA\, where she taught literature\, visual culture\, and leadership and earned the Distinguished Teaching Award.

Yet for many nonprofits\, that’s the reality. Planning feels reactive instead of strategic. The result? Burnout\, inconsistent results\, and untapped donor potential. To truly grow your annual fundraising program\, you need more than good intentions; you need a roadmap rooted in data\, clarity\, and focus. \nDuring this webinar\, Shama Shams will help you step back from the day-to-day and take a strategic look at your fundraising performance. You’ll uncover what’s working\, what needs to change\, and how to build a balanced\, sustainable plan for the year ahead. \nYou’ll learn how to:\n\nassess your current fundraising performance using key metrics like donor retention\, acquisition channels\, ROI\, and average gift size;\nidentify strengths\, gaps\, and opportunities across individual giving\, major gifts\, events\, corporate partnerships\, membership\, and grants; and\,\nprioritize donor segments and engagement strategies through a tiered stewardship model that aligns your time and resources with donor potential.\n\nBy the end of the session\, you’ll walk away with a clear picture of how to design an actionable plan that supports both sustainability and long-term mission impact. Whether you’re building your first annual plan or refreshing an existing one\, this session will help you reimagine your approach with confidence and purpose. \nWho should attend:\nThis webinar is designed for nonprofit professionals involved in fundraising\, campaign planning\, or donor stewardship. It’s ideal for those who need structure\, strategy\, and practical tools to strengthen fundraising and new or “accidental” fundraisers who have taken on fundraising responsibilities without formal training or a strategic plan. \nAfter the webinar\, you’ll receive:\n\nslides and handouts; and\,\na link to the webinar recording.\n\n\n\n\nWebinar CFRE\n\nFull participation in this webinar is applicable for 1.5 points in Category 1.B -Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification. \n\n\n\nDate\nThursday\, December 18\, 2025 – 2 PM EST\n\n\nDuration\n90 Minutes\n\n\nQuestions?
