Yet for many nonprofits\, that’s the reality. Planning feels reactive instead of strategic. The result? Burnout\, inconsistent results\, and untapped donor potential. To truly grow your annual fundraising program\, you need more than good intentions; you need a roadmap rooted in data\, clarity\, and focus. \nDuring this webinar\, Shama Shams will help you step back from the day-to-day and take a strategic look at your fundraising performance. You’ll uncover what’s working\, what needs to change\, and how to build a balanced\, sustainable plan for the year ahead. \nYou’ll learn how to:\n\nassess your current fundraising performance using key metrics like donor retention\, acquisition channels\, ROI\, and average gift size;\nidentify strengths\, gaps\, and opportunities across individual giving\, major gifts\, events\, corporate partnerships\, membership\, and grants; and\,\nprioritize donor segments and engagement strategies through a tiered stewardship model that aligns your time and resources with donor potential.\n\nBy the end of the session\, you’ll walk away with a clear picture of how to design an actionable plan that supports both sustainability and long-term mission impact. SUMMARY:2026 Nonprofit Day at the Capitol
DESCRIPTION:This in-person session is being hosted by the WVNPA \nFebruary 18th\, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM \nRegistration Fees: FREE \nREGISTRATION\nAbout This Event\nThe West Virginia Nonprofit Association (WVNPA) is the statewide membership association for charitable nonprofits. Our nearly 300 member organizations serve residents in all 55 counties through health and human services\, education\, community and economic development\, arts\, housing\, and more. \nWest Virginia’s nonprofit sector is a major economic engine: \n\n11\,000+ nonprofits across the state\nGenerating more than $9 billion in annual revenue\nEmploying 1 in every 8 workers in West Virginia\n\nNonprofits are not “nice to have” – they are core infrastructure for West Virginia’s communities and economy. \nAbout WVNPA Day at the Capitol \nThis year\, WVNPA will bring over 50 nonprofit leaders from across West Virginia to the Capitol to: \n\nShare real stories from their communities\nHighlight the impact of state and federal policy choices\nBuild stronger relationships with legislators and staff\n\nOur goal is simple: help decision-makers see how policy and budget choices show up in real lives\, in every district. \nPriority Issue #1: Neighborhood Investment Program (NIP) \nThe Neighborhood Investment Program (NIP) is one of the state’s most effective tools for leveraging private giving to community-based nonprofits. \n\nNIP provides $3 million in state tax credits each year for donations to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits. Source: WV Community Development Office\nDonors (individuals and businesses) can receive up to 50% of their contribution back as a WV tax credit\, encouraging larger and more consistent gifts.\nRoughly 200 nonprofits receive NIP credits annually\, helping them sustain essential programs in distressed neighborhoods and for at-risk populations.\nSince its creation\, NIP has leveraged over $143 million in charitable donations to West Virginia nonprofits.\nIn recent years\, nonprofits have used 100% of available NIP credits\, demonstrating strong demand and impact.\n\nPriority Issue #2: State & Federal Funding Delays & Cash Flow Crises \nState & Federal grants and contracts are a lifeline for many West Virginia nonprofits – but grant freezes\, delayed reimbursements\, and sudden policy shifts are pushing organizations into crisis. \nRecent trends include: \n\nGrant freezes and delayed payments from federal agencies and pass-through state programs.\nNonprofits dipping into limited reserves or taking on debt to keep staff paid and services running\nSmaller\, rural organizations – often the only provider in their community—report being one missed payment away from cutting programs or closing.

SUMMARY:Key Ways to Foster Board Engagement
DESCRIPTION:This webinar is being hosted by The Chronicle of Philanthropy \nFebruary 26th\, 2:00 PM – 3:15 PM \nRegistration Fees: $89 \nREGISTRATION\nFor many nonprofit CEOs\, board engagement is a more urgent and complicated leadership challenge than it was even a few years ago. Today’s environment is putting new pressure on how trustees and leaders work together at a time when executives are navigating uncertainty\, pressure\, and limited capacity. \nThe stakes are clear: Research shows only about one in three CEOs believe they have the “right” board members to support their organization’s current strategy. As nonprofits look toward 2026\, finding ways to close this gap is more critical than ever. \nJoin this 75-minute webinar to learn from two nonprofit leaders who bring long histories of working closely with boards as executives and advisers. They’ll share trends they’re seeing now\, situations where board engagement tends to break down\, and tactics that are helping make the board-CEO relationship more productive and supportive in this moment. \nYou’ll learn ways to:\n\nEncourage more active board participation and match members’ contributions to your organization’s most pressing needs\nClarify expectations and improve how board and staff members work together\nBuild board engagement that supports leadership during complex moments\n\nYou’ll walk away with practical insights you can apply immediately — whether you’re trying to reset expectations with a long-standing board or navigate engagement challenges that have become harder to ignore. \nTo register on behalf of another person\, group\, international registrations or request other accommodations\, please contact events@philanthropy.com (recommended) or 571-540-8070 and include the name of the webinar\, billing address\, and attendee information. \nThis webinar is worth 1.25 CFRE credits. \nSpeakers: \nMonika Kalra Varma\, President & CEO\, Board Source \nKevin Dean\, President & CEO\, Tennessee Nonprofit Network \nHost: \nStephani Beasley\, Senior Writer\, Chronicle of Philanthropy

SUMMARY:Fundraising Series: What's Next for Fundraising? Trends\, Technology\, and Generational Shifts (FREE)
DESCRIPTION:This webinar is being hosted by CommonGood Vermont \nMarch 5th\, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM \nRegistration Fees: FREE \nREGISTRATION\nWhat will successful fundraising require in 2026 and beyond? In this forward-looking panel conversation\, Vu Le\, Philip Deng\, and Mel Houser will explore the forces reshaping nonprofit fundraising—and what these changes mean for organizations of all sizes and missions.  \nPanelists will discuss key fundraising trends in 2026\, including how generational change and wealth transfer\, advances in AI and technology\, and increased collaboration among nonprofit organizations are transforming how nonprofits engage donors and approach solicitation. Drawing on their experience and observation\, panelists will share their perspectives on what’s shifting\, what’s emerging\, and what may need to be left behind.  \nThe conversation will also highlight practical insights and tips fundraisers and nonprofit professionals can apply as they adapt their strategies\, messaging\, and relationship-building approaches in a changing landscape—particularly as federal policy changes continue to impact the sector. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of where fundraising is headed and how to prepare thoughtfully and strategically for what’s next.  \nIf you have any questions\, please reach out to certificates@commongoodvt.org. \nRegister here to attend this free panel discussion. This webinar is also a part of Common Good Vermont’s 2026 Fundraising Series. He is going to do that\, with the hope that one day\, a TV producer will see how cool and interesting our field is and make a show about nonprofit work\, featuring attractive actors attending strategic planning meetings and filing 990 tax forms. \nKnown for his no-BS approach\, irreverent sense of humor\, and love of unicorns\, Vu has been featured in dozens\, if not hundreds\, of his own blog posts at NonprofitAF.com. \n  \nPhilip Deng is co-founder and CEO of Grantable\, an AI-powered proposal writing assistant. He is the author of the weekly newsletter and podcast\, The Process\, which discusses the future of technology and philanthropic work. \n  \nMel Houser\, M.D. (she/they) is the Founder and Executive Director of All Brains Belong VT\, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization in Montpelier\, VT with a mission to support the health and belonging of people with all types of brains.
