SUMMARY:WVU: Creating Public Value for Your Agency or Organization
DESCRIPTION:Allison Nichols\, Ed.D.\, Clinical Extension Professor and Evaluation Specialist\, \nWest Virginia University Extension \nCEUs: 3 Social Work hours; 3 CECNPM hours (Special Topics/Electives) \nRegistration Fee: $35 (Early bird rate of $31.50 by October 17\, 2014) \nTarget Audience:  All levels of practitioners \nAs private\, state and national funds become harder to obtain for our programs\, it has become increasingly important to be able to articulate the “public value” of our work.  So often we measure the “private value” of our efforts – how it affects individuals — but fail to determine how our programs benefit the public as a whole.  This workshop will help you learn how to identify the public value of your work and write and disseminated effective public value statements and stories. \nLearning Objectives: At the conclusion of this workshop\, participants will be able to distinguish between private and public value; have determined the public value of their own program; have written one or more public value statements and/or stories; and have ideas for communicating public value to their stakeholders.
