DESCRIPTION:[A joint program of Philanthropy West Virginia and the West Virginia Nonprofit Association.]\nMark your calendar for the West Virginia Policy Institute in Charleston on December 5! \nWith featured speaker Tim Delaney\, President and CEO of the National Council of Nonprofits. \nThe West Virginia Policy Institute will make nonprofits and foundations familiar with ethical practices of policy engagement for making meaningful improvements for the state’s nonprofit sector. \nWith more than 6\,000 nonprofit organizations employing more than 10% of West Virginia’s workforce\, the philanthropic and nonprofit sector plays a critical role in advancing our state. This four-hour program will assist nonprofit and foundation board members\, trustees\, CEOs\, staff\, and volunteers on how they can ethically and effectively be involved in the public policy and government relations realm to advance the work of their organizations and the needs of our citizens and communities. \n“Many times philanthropy and nonprofits want to be engaged in the public policy and government relations process\, but don’t know how to do it or what they can or cannot do. This program provides an outstanding opportunity for nonprofits and foundations of all sizes and varieties to join us and learn the ethical and effective strategies they can undertake to advance their public policy and government relations work\,” says Paul D. Daugherty\, president and CEO of Philanthropy West Virginia. He adds\, “we will be providing sessions for the Novice to the Moderate to the Expert throughout the Policy Institute and unveil our joint Public Policy priorities for the 2015 WV Legislative Session”. \nPhilanthropy WV and the WVNPA are thrilled to host this program with the support of the Maier Foundation focused on Ethical & Effective Practices in Public Policy Affairs Program.
