SUMMARY:Good Governance for Nonprofits and the IRS Form 990
DESCRIPTION:Presented by the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation. \nTuesday\, June 9\, 2015\, 9 am–noon\, CraftWorks at Cool Spring\, 1469 Lloyd Rd\, Charles Town\, WV 25414 \nOLIVIA HUTTON is one of our most popular speakers. Since beginning her accounting career at Yount Hyde & Barbour in 1998\, Olivia has focused on providing financial reporting services to nonprofit organizations\, especially private schools\, colleges\, universities and foundations. In addition to conducting audits and reviews\, she has helped clients prepare Form 990\, 990-T and 990-PF informational returns. As a member of the Nonprofit and Governmental Services team\, Olivia has been named a Super CPA by Virginia Business magazine in the nonprofit/governmental field as well as the “Young CPAs” field. \nWorkshop Description\nDuring the past few years\, the IRS brought the idea of good governance to the forefront of discussion among charitable organizations. Sweeping changes have taken place and the IRS Form 990 has been revised in an effort to make certain all nonprofits comply with the law. Why is the IRS worried about governance issues and requiring organizations to report more information on Form 990? What are the primary issues that the IRS cares about? What do these issues mean for you\, your board and your organization? \nPlan to spend a late spring morning with us in Jefferson County at the NET Workshop “Good Governance for 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organizations and the IRS Form 990.” Join CPA Olivia Hutton\, Principal of Yount Hyde & Barbour from 9 am until noon for a discussion regarding what road the IRS (and Congress) may take in enforcing good governance procedures\, and how to protect charitable organizations from IRS good governance examinations. In the end\, this workshop will help you understand the emphasis on good governance and prepare for the more in depth reporting requirements for Form 990. \nLearning Objectives: At the conclusion of this workshop\, participants will have a better understanding of the emphasis on good governance for nonprofit organizations and be better prepared for the more in-depth reporting requirements for Form 990. \nRegistration: $20 per person \nRegister online: NET Registration Form \nPlease pay via Paypal\, or mail your check to EWVCF\, 229 E Martin St.\, Suite 4\, Martinsburg\, WV 25401.
