2022 Leadership Summit – Session Descriptions

Balancing the Nonprofit Leader with Becky Mathis-Stump

Have you ever driven with tires that are out of balance? If so, you’ve likely felt the vibrations and found it difficult to steer. And those are just the short-term impacts of imbalanced tires. Over time, you may noticed bad fuel economy and even abnormal wear and tear on your tires, shocks, and bearings. As nonprofit leaders, we are tempted to work in a state of imbalance, and that temptation has been even stronger over the last few years. During our keynote session we’ll work together to identify signs of imbalance and strategies that will help us get back into balance. Come prepared to share and encounter hope as you seek to be a balanced leader.

Balancing Workplace Culture with David Ray

Why do some teams add up to be greater than the sum of their parts while others add up to be less? One word: CULTURE. The culture of a group is one of the most potent forces on the planet. We sense its presence in successful businesses, thriving families, and championship teams. We all know that culture makes a difference, but the difference it makes has been magnified in today’s working environment. Research suggests that an unhealthy workplace culture is one of the key factors contributing to the great resignation. Workers in America have been resigning at a higher rate than ever before, but we don’t have to be part of those numbers. In this session, we’ll explore together how we can experience a different reality by identifying signs of imbalance within our culture and what we can do to intentionally cultivate a healthy environment for our team to flourish.
