A Visit & Guest Presentation with
Rip Rapson, President & CEO of The Kresge Foundation of Troy, MI
(For Mr. Rapson’s full bio, visit here: http://kresge.org/sites/default/files/Uploaded%20Docs/Rip-Rapson-bio2015.pdf)

The progress of any town, city, county or state relies on a strong base of sector leadership including Private (business, industry, and labor), Public (local, county, state, and federal government), and Independent (philanthropy and nonprofits).  If these three sectors are strong, we see economic progress, civic growth, and overall quality of life improvement.  When one is weak or collapses, the others are challenged to step up to lead and assist with a community’s revitalization, preservation and growth.

This role of philanthropy’s ethical leadership, in WV or elsewhere, is key in good times and in bad. To demonstrate how the sectors of community-economic development, government, business, and many others can work together for progress, Philanthropy WV and the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation are thrilled to host Rip Rapson, President & CEO of The Kresge Foundation.

Mr. Rapson will provide an energizing and insightful breakfast presentation on Thursday, April 30th at Four Points by Sheraton in Charleston, WV.  Mr. Rapson will discuss the city of Detroit and the role Ethical Leadership Foundations played in partnering with the private and public sectors to revitalize his community, region and state. The cost is $20/person for Philanthropy WV/WVNPA Members and $30.00/person for Non-Members.

He will share his experiences of recovery from the Great Recession in Michigan, The Kresge Foundation’s work to bring different sectors together for progress, and share insights from his time at the McKnight Foundation.  You will be surprised to see that WV and Michigan have in common, especially as we move our states forward for economic prosperity.

This program is part of Philanthropy WV’s 2015 Launching Solutions in the Mountain State Series.
