Catholic Charities West Virginia : Adult Education Instructor

Catholic Charities West Virginia is looking for a full-time Adult Education Instructor for a program located in Huntington. The instructor will: Provide high quality academic instruction to enrolled adult learners. Create effective and engaging lesson plans. Teach reading, writing, and math. Administer and interpret formal/informal assessments to detect baseline academic functioning and to measure progress. Deliver multi-level instruction to learners of varying academic levels. Work with other staff to create individual learning plans for each enrolled adult learner. Prepare and submit applicable data relating to learner enrollment, progress, and completion. Apply accommodations to learners with special learning needs. Qualified individuals will have a Bachelor’s Degree in education, social services, or social sciences fields, with experience in adult basic/technical education preferred. Individuals must have a professional teaching certificate or be eligible for an Adult Teaching License by having a four-year degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Candidates must have the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment to provide high quality services to enrolled adult learners and the surrounding community. The Education Alliance: 2 VISTA Positions

The VISTAs will build the capacity of the STEM Network Schools to develop and implement comprehensive STEM Plans. Friends of Blackwater (“FOB”), www.saveblackwater.org, located in Thomas, WV, is seeking a part-time (30 hrs. /week) Director (in-training).  The ideal candidate has training and experience in and a passion for environmental advocacy, science, and policy.  Public speaking, writing, technology, and administrative, leadership, management, and networking skills and experience are required. Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation – Program Manager
The Program Manager will be responsible for the review and analysis of the grant and scholarship process from application to evaluation. Duties include developing grant and scholarship program standards and assisting the Executive Director with other Community Foundation programs and special events. Lewis County FRN – 2 Home Educators

The Lewis County Family Resource Network is currently accepting resumes for 2 PT Parent/Home Educators, one for Upshur County and one for Lewis County. The Lewis County Family Resource Network is seeking compassionate, non-judgmental individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of young families. The job of a parent educator is to work directly with parents of children in the home providing parents with information regarding child development and effective parenting techniques. The parent educator will look at the family as a unit, use a strength –based approach, and provide support to the family using screening tools, referrals, and information from reputable sources. Grow Ohio Valley – AmeriCorps Local Food Systems Service
Improve social justice in Rustbelt Appalachia by joining Grow Ohio Valley’s efforts to improve local food systems. Grow Ohio Valley (GOV) is seeking year round and partial year positions to work on all aspects of its nationally recognized efforts to improve food justice in Wheeling, West Virginia and the surrounding region. Candidates should have demonstrated interests in social justice, urban agriculture, education, and/or food systems work, with a desire to reduce poverty, a passion for service, and readiness to work with their hands. Members will integrate into GOV’s core operations in food justice and local food access, as well as facilitate garden-based learning in schools and communities. GOV is searching for exceptional candidates to fill these key roles, with opportunities for 12 month, 6 month, 4.5 month, and 3 month positions. These are full time positions that require 35 hours/week minimum. AmeriCorps members are critical to enhancing and expanding GOV’s programs to provide greater food security in the larger Wheeling community.
