Habitat for Humanity of the Mid-Ohio Valley – Resource Development Director
Habitat for Humanity of the Mid-Ohio Valley is looking for a Director of Resource Development who is keenly aware of Habitat’s mission and how building homes and relationships builds hope.  Responsibilities include overseeing all resource development efforts, including building and deepening relationships with donors, grants and fundraising events.  The ideal candidate will have experience with donor development as well as donor technology. HFHMOV covers two counties, one each in Ohio and West Virginia and borders the Ohio River.  The population of the two counties is about 160,000.  Located only 2.5 hours from great skiing, whitewater rafting and the beautiful mountains, it’s also only a three-hour drive from Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Cincinnati. Friends of Blackwater – Director (in-training)
Friends of Blackwater (“FOB”), www.saveblackwater.org, located in Thomas, WV, is seeking a part-time (30 hrs. /week) Director (in-training).  The ideal candidate has training and experience in and a passion for environmental advocacy, science, and policy.  Public speaking, writing, technology, and administrative, leadership, management, and networking skills and experience are required. Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation – Program Manager
The Program Manager will be responsible for the review and analysis of the grant and scholarship process from application to evaluation. Duties include developing grant and scholarship program standards and assisting the Executive Director with other Community Foundation programs and special events. United Way of the River Cities – VISTA Community Outreach Coordinator
United Way of the River Cities is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA to help enhance the efforts of one of UWRC’s signature initiatives, The Financial Stability Partnership (FSP), a coalition of community-based organizations working together to invest in the financial security of individuals and families. VISTA will play an especially important role in building the infrastructure of FSP’s Opportunity Youth Program, an initiative that assists disconnected youth (ages 16 – 24) with education, employment, and stable housing. The long-term outcome of this program will be a coordinated platform to help youth succeed through intervention, mentoring, and educational reengagement. The Lewis County Family Resource Network is seeking compassionate, non-judgmental individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of young families. The job of a parent educator is to work directly with parents of children in the home providing parents with information regarding child development and effective parenting techniques. The parent educator will look at the family as a unit, use a strength –based approach, and provide support to the family using screening tools, referrals, and information from reputable sources. Grow Ohio Valley – AmeriCorps Local Food Systems Service
Improve social justice in Rustbelt Appalachia by joining Grow Ohio Valley’s efforts to improve local food systems. Grow Ohio Valley (GOV) is seeking year round and partial year positions to work on all aspects of its nationally recognized efforts to improve food justice in Wheeling, West Virginia and the surrounding region. Candidates should have demonstrated interests in social justice, urban agriculture, education, and/or food systems work, with a desire to reduce poverty, a passion for service, and readiness to work with their hands. Members will integrate into GOV’s core operations in food justice and local food access, as well as facilitate garden-based learning in schools and communities. GOV is searching for exceptional candidates to fill these key roles, with opportunities for 12 month, 6 month, 4.5 month, and 3 month positions. These are full time positions that require 35 hours/week minimum. AmeriCorps members are critical to enhancing and expanding GOV’s programs to provide greater food security in the larger Wheeling community.
