ADVOCACY
The West Virginia Nonprofit Association is committed to ensuring that the voices of our state’s nonprofits are heard loud and clear in the halls of government, the media, and our communities. Through strategic partnerships, timely policy action, and grassroots engagement, WVNPA works to advance policies that strengthen nonprofits and the people they serve.
Neighborhood Investment Program (NIP)
The Neighborhood Investment Program is a critical tax credit initiative that helps nonprofits leverage donations to expand their impact. WVNPA advocates for the continued funding and protection of NIP so that nonprofits of all sizes, from rural food pantries to statewide service providers can sustain and grow their work. We keep our members informed about program updates, deadlines, and opportunities to engage policymakers in support of NIP.
WVNPA Advocacy Committee
Our newly created Advocacy Committee brings together nonprofit leaders from across West Virginia to help guide WVNPA’s policy priorities, respond quickly to emerging issues, and build a unified voice for the sector. The committee identifies key legislative opportunities, tracks sector-impacting bills, and develops strategies for mobilizing our statewide network.
Federal Cuts & AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps programs are a vital part of West Virginia’s nonprofit landscape, providing essential manpower and community connections. In response to recent federal funding cuts, WVNPA supports lead partners in organizing nonprofit leaders, raising public awareness, and advocating for restored and expanded AmeriCorps funding.
Training & Capacity Building
We know advocacy can feel daunting, that’s why WVNPA offers practical training for nonprofits of all sizes to understand the legislative process, build relationships with elected officials, and tell their story effectively. Our sessions cover everything from writing persuasive op-eds to testifying before legislative committees.
Advocacy Day at the Capitol
Coming soon, WVNPA’s first Advocacy Day at the West Virginia State Capitol! This highly anticipated event will give nonprofits the opportunity to meet with lawmakers, share their impact, and advocate for policies that strengthen the sector. Stay tuned for details on dates, registration, and preparation workshops.
Your voice matters. Together, we can ensure that West Virginia’s nonprofits have the resources, respect, and recognition they deserve.
