At an early age, Bob Pirner began learning how to walk in the Lakota Way. The people of Spring Creek Community shared freely with him of their knowledge and their spirituality. From them, he learned the value of courage, fortitude, generosity and wisdom. Those traits have followed his non-profit career through capital campaigns, strategic plans, and the myriad of issues facing a leader. He has founded four non-profit organizations in addition to being an executive role with several others.

Growing up in Grand Rapids Michigan Craig Greening wanted to be a teacher and after graduating from Northern Michigan University he ended up teaching Industrial Arts at Tohatchi High School New Mexico on the Navajo Nation. Life events lead him to West Virginia where he began his walk with non-for-profits. He has held CEO or senior level management positions throughout his NFP career. He has spurred significant growth and increased mission at every turn. “I’m not sure I’ve ever been a great leader, but I have accomplished the goals I created for both myself and the organizations I worked in.”

Breakout Presenters:

Joanne Dennison, The Guidance Counselor for Grown Ups
“She is the person you want in the room when you have a problem to solve”, as on client phrased it.
“She is a dot connector—of dots other people do not even see.”
“She is able to get you to understand the experience a different Point of View (POV) whether it be that of a customer or client, employees, management, leadership, members, boards — she is able to have you sit in their chair — or stand in their shoes.”
Using her background as a college administrator, small business owner, serving on and facilitating boards and what she has learned from every person she has encountered, Joanne has put everything together to work with individuals and organizations to answer “What’s Next?” Her ability to find the problems and options with whomever she works with, and make every individual in a room feel like she is speaking to them moves processes along at a positive pace. Joanne’s ability to think and respond quickly and accurately allows the process to turn quickly as new information comes into discussion. “One size (or process) fits all” is not her motto.
