Managing non-profits can provide both reward and challenge for social work managers, and having a management approach that promotes employee morale and ownership can increase the rewards. This workshop will help social work managers identify participatory management strategies that promote morale, retention, and ownership in the non-profit setting with stakeholders and employees. Using a variety of interactive tools, media, and discussion, participants will explore how to be an effective and ethical leader, identify strategies to incorporate in the workplace, and develop a better understanding of organizational structure influences and participatory management approaches to non-profit agency settings.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to identify participatory management strategies to incorporate in the non-profit setting; develop an understanding of individual leadership style; identify formal and informal organizational structure hierarchy; and influences in the agency setting, and identify ethical and effective management functions.
