Working Genius: Why Good Teams Burn Out and How to Fix It

Nonprofits and funders are full of talented, mission-driven people who are still burning out. The problem usually is not effort or commitment. It is that most teams are built without any understanding of how people are wired to contribute.  The Working Genius model is a practical framework that identifies six types of work required to move anything from idea to impact. Everyone has areas where they work with natural energy, and areas that quietly drain them. When teams do not account for this, they ask the wrong people for the wrong things and wonder why collaboration feels harder than it should. In this session, participants will get a plain-language introduction to the framework, explore how it applies to their own team, and leave with something they can use right away with staff, boards, or across the funder-nonprofit relationship.  This framework helps keep your best people from burning out and allows you to build teams around how people actually work.
