New Brief: Nonprofit Leadership Day recap

On July 30, The West Virginia Nonprofit Association sponsored its first Nonprofit Leadership Day at Faces of Leadership, featuring advanced workshops on executive transitions and high-impact fundraising, as well as a wealth of afternoon sessions touching on nonprofit issues.

The workshops were followed by the annual WVNPA Membership Meeting, during which the following slate of WVNPA Advisory Board members were approved:

To serve a three-year term ending 12/31/17:

  • Susan Aloi, PhD, West Virginia Wesleyan College (Region VIII)
  • Mary (Nikki) Williams, WV Development Office (Region III)
  • Deb Koester, West Virginia Local Health (Region III)

To serve a second three-year term ending 12/31/17:

  • John Ballengee, United Way of Central WV (Region III)
  • Sheri Ryder, The Greater Kanawha Valley Community Foundation (Region III)
  • David Rogers, Mission West Virginia (Region II)

The annual meeting was followed by a rapid-fire focus group for the Institute for Coaching and Leadership,facilitated by Lydotta Taylor, of the Morgantown-based EdVenture Group.

Members highlighted among GSA honorees

Congratulations are in order for several WVNPA members. Last week’s Governor’s Service Awards banquet featured an all-star lineup of WVNPA member organizations and their volunteers who were recognized for their outstanding work in addressing social issues through service. They included: Volunteers Emma Brannare (Youth) and Greg Smith (Adult) with the Soup Kitchen of Greater Wheeling; Brooke Hancock FRN’s Paul Bud Billiard; and Dubois Museum on Main’s Jean Evansmore.
